Driftless Artists is an insider’s look at a creative community shaped by one of the most distinctive landscapes in the Midwest.
Over five years and more than a dozen solo trips, photographer Andy Goodwin traveled the back roads of Wisconsin’s Driftless Region, building relationships with the artists who live and work there. The result is a collection of more than fifty portraits of painters, potters, woodworkers, sculptors, printmakers, and other makers whose work is rooted in place, practice, and personality.
Untouched by glaciers and shaped by steep hills, clear streams, and quiet resilience, the Driftless is unfamiliar to many but unforgettable to those who experience it. Goodwin’s portraits move beyond the expected, revealing artists in ways that are thoughtful, surprising, and deeply human.
