Gallery Night
Featured Exhibit: The Golden Hour by Kyle Martin
Meet + Greet with the Kyle Martin: 5pm-7pm
Brewery Pottery Open: 10am-9pm
Come early, stay late! Kyle is interested in observing and painting the effect of light falling on the landscape. His work is created outdoors, painted en plein air, taking direct inspiration from the subject. Kyle’s painting endeavors have taken him to France, the Netherlands, Italy, and across the United States. He was chosen to paint on the grounds of Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece, Taliesin, for two months during the centennial celebration. By using color to show atmosphere he will often return to the same location to capture different moods of the same scene. His luminous paintings are created with active brushwork and broken color.
Show runs through the end of May.

About The Musician:
Laura Gibson is an internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer, born and raised in the small Oregon logging town of Coquille. Gibson began performing songs for patients at hospice homes prior to writing her first extended play and releasing her debut album,
If You Come to Greet Me in 2006. She collaborated with
The Decemberists's drummer Rachel Blumberg on the release, as well as on her second album,
Beasts of Seasons.
Her seventh, and most recent album Goners is a meditation on grief and empathy which The Fader described as, "so incessantly beautiful that one cannot help but want to gently crack it open to get to its beating core.”
Both literary and raw, with a love of traditional folk music and a bent toward experimentation, Gibson has toured four continents and had the distinct honor of performing the very first NPR
Tiny Desk Concerts in 2008. The concept for the Tiny Desk Concerts was conceived following one of her concerts that NPR music journalists Stephen Thompson and Bob Boilen attended. When they were unable to hear her performance over the noise of the crowd, Boilen and Gibson arranged for her to
perform at his desk at the NPR office, and it subsequently evolved into a recurring feature. She would later reappear again at the 200th Tiny Desk Concert.
Private Event. Tickets Required. Please purchase tickets prior to concert. No tickets will be available at the door.

Gallery Night
Featured Exhibit: Open Loops by Josh Crook
Meet + Greet with Josh : 5pm-7pm
Brewery Pottery Open: 10am-9pm
Come early, stay late, and enjoy a new exhibit of original paintings by local artist Josh Crook. Crook's focus is to create art that depicts change and transformation of matter. He states, "I'm fascinated, in particular, with how time is involved in aesthetics. Regardless of other variables, time and timing are powerful. My work tends to look as if objects are exploding or imploding, contracting or expanding, separating or mixing, being created or getting destroyed. I want my paintings to seem in motion or ‘on the way’ to something. This can often be achieved by working quickly and intuitively."
Open Loops runs through the end of July.

Book Talk + Trunk Show at Brewery Pottery
Brewery Pottery welcomes you to a night of colorful textiles and a book reading by our dear friend (and now published author!) Judy Frater.
Artisans by Design is a firsthand account of the development of Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya (the first design school for traditional artisans in India) and its evolution to present-day Somaiya Kala Vidya.
Frater shares the intimate stories of more than 20 artisans (intertwined with her own story), detailing how their education brought them personal fulfillment, increased social and economic status, and an understanding of sustainability.
As she writes about her adventures in India working alongside these textile artists you'll learn a few personal stories from the students, their work, and the school's effect on their lives and India's cultural and economic development.
The book is published and we're hosting a book reading and trunk show this Saturday with textiles made by some of the artists Judy has worked with throughout her years in India. A handful of the artists featured in her book will be here on Saturday too.
Come meet everyone, hear Judy read, ask questions, and see some of the beautiful textiles up close and personal. Artisans by Design and a number of these textiles will be for sale during this one night only event.
