Kantha Tote Bag

These colorful Kantha Tote Bags are handmade using 100% silk up-cycled saris. 

Totes are the perfect size for library books, a packed lunch and a bottle of water for work or a picnic, or grabbing a few small items at the grocery store. 

These sturdy bags have an outer pocket and beautiful natural dye block print fabric for the straps. Each piece is unique and features exquisite hand stitching known as "kantha". Saris that may have a tear in them are no longer suitable for wearing but have plenty of beautiful material to cut up into new, up-cycled uses, like these cheerful totes.

Fair Trade Item: Each tote is ethically handcrafted in small batches by environmentalist artisans with Prokritee, an organization in Bangladesh that provides jobs and skills training for women in under‒resourced communities. It employs women traditionally excluded from the market: widows, heads of households, rural poor, or landless without another source of income.
